Emerging Markets Communications to Conduct Live Demonstrations of On Demand HD Videoconferencing Over Satellite Service
With a VSAT antenna on the roof of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, EMC will conduct live HD Connect high definition videoconferences from its booth to locations across the United States and around the globe via its satellite connections. The demonstration will show how EMC’s HD Connect service allows governments, multinational corporations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in hard to reach areas of the world to use HD videoconferencing, telepresence and visual collaboration anywhere, anytime (on land, sea or in the air), at a fraction of the price of a typical dedicated satellite data circuit. It achieves this cost reduction thanks to a patent-pending Video on Demand system, which turns on the connection only when it is in use. The demonstration will also showcase how HD Connect delivers unprecedented quality, with low jitter, low packet loss and predictable and steady latency for excellent, unparalleled videoconferencing experiences.
As part of the HD Connect demonstrations, EMC will conduct two live discussions with Howard Lichtman, founder and President of the Human Productivity Lab, an independent consultancy that helps organizations deploy and future-proof telepresence conferencing solutions, and Publisher of Telepresence Options, the leading website covering telepresence technologies and the telepresence industry. The live discussions will take place in EMC’s booth on Tuesday, March 13, at 2:00 pm and on Wednesday, March 14, at 10:00 am.
“High definition videoconferencing and visual collaboration are playing increasingly important roles in enabling organizational efficiency, improving decision making and strengthening relationships worldwide,” said Mr. Lichtman. “To date, one of the challenges holding back the spread of HD video has been the lack of affordable, high-quality bandwidth in third world, second world and even first world locations. Solutions like EMC’s HD Connect are overcoming those challenges and enabling organizations to connect globally with colleagues, partners, suppliers and customers.”
