Myanmar
Event

Yangon,
Myanmar
Where Industry Leaders Meet
Background
Talk Satellite and
CommuniCast
Myanmar
are
delighted
to
announce
the
second
annual
Myanmar
Satellite
Forum,
to
be
held
on 18th
November
2015
at
Myanmar
Event
Park,
Yangon.
With
a
population
exceeding
60
million
people
and
an
anticipated
annual
GDP
growth
rate
of
7.2%
through
to
2022.
A
poor
infrastructure
will
however
hold
back
on
the
available
opportunities;
in
particular
the
telecommunications
sector
has
been
identified
for
immediate
prioritization.
Deputy
Minister,
Ministry
of
Communications
and
Information
Technology
Myanmar,
H.E
U
Thaung
Tin,
said:
“The
broadcasting
industry
is
moving
very
fast.
From
an
economic,
commercial,
national
prestige
and
national
security
point
of
view,
everything
points
towards
satellite
and
the
demand
is
increasing.
We
have
now
given
the
satellite
project
top
priority
on
our
agenda
and
are
working
on
getting
this
set
up
in
the
near
future.
Satellite
Sovereignty
was
a
key
theme
from
last
year’s
event
which
was
host
to
the
country’s
first
Myanmar
Satellite
Forum,
and
the
announcement
of a
new
broadcasting
law
is
sure
to
stimulate
the
debate
at
the
event’s
return
on
18
November
2015
“We
have
done
well
in
terms
of
telecom
liberalisation
so
far
but
the
journey
has
just
begun.
We
now
have
to
kick
momentum
and
fulfill
the
people
of
Myanmar’s
desires
and
expectations.
People
are
now
asking
for
the
quality
of
service
and
more
choices
and
we
have
to
deliver
that,”
he
added.
