Avanti demos
Google Glassware satellite application at IBC 2014
Avanti Communications will
unveil its brand new Google Glassware satellite app at
the IBC Conference in Amsterdam. Designed for use
alongside Avanti’s proprietary ‘Avanti Mobile Assist’
app, the global satellite operator has now seamlessly
integrated its satellite installation process with
Google’s Glassware application.
Earlier this year, Avanti
unveiled its proprietary Avanti Mobile Assist app to
assist with Ka-band satellite field installations. The
app optimises the installation process by supporting job
allocation, antenna line-up, initiation of service and
reporting for engineers. Now, using current
attitude/longitude position, the Google Glassware
application will source the relative location of
Avanti’s HYLAS 1 and HYLAS 2 satellites, enabled by
completely hands-free alignment.
Avanti Mobile Assist and
Google Glassware apps work together as follows:
- Accurate dish
alignment: User first aligns the
satellite dish using Augmented Reality; the
satellite appears on screen and the user can carry
out fine alignment by viewing the Signal to Noise
Ratio (SNR);
- Bluetooth / WiFi
connection: User connects to the
Avanti Mobile Assist app via Bluetooth to receive
real-time updates on the current signal quality of
the terminal; the AMA app receives signal quality
information from the terminal via WiFi;
- Signal Noise Ratio:
SNR is displayed both as a numerical value in the
upper right hand side and a signal bar on the left
hand side, displaying current signal quality in
red/yellow/green and the current maximum signal
strength with a slight opacity;
David Bestwick, Technical
Director at Avanti Communications, commented:
“Avanti uses leading technologies and applications to
deliver high quality services to customers the world
over. Integration with the Google Glassware is further
evidence of the flexibility of our technology,
supporting both Hughes and iDirect terminals. We hope
visitors to the stand at IBC 2014 enjoy the demo.”
