Compact DVB satellite
receiver from Rohde & Schwarz facilitates industry's transition to IP-based
solutions
The standalone R&S AVG050 DVB satellite receiver from Rohde & Schwarz fills
a gap in the growing IP market. In conventional receivers, the demodulator
function is usually offered in combination with an IRD (integrated
receiver/decoder). However, with the infrastructure for transmitter networks
and closed user groups such as business TV and hospitality TV moving toward
IP-based solutions, there is often no more need for decoding. For these
applications, Rohde & Schwarz now offers a state-of-the-art, compact
solution with a specific set of features.
The R&S AVG050 processes incoming signals for DVB-T/DVB-T2/DVB C/DVB-C2
networks. A built-in BISS descrambler and two CI slots are provided for
DVB-compatible decryption. After decrypting the incoming streams, the R&S
AVG050 can output them as an IP or ASI signal. The receiver's output signal
can also be used in monitoring applications, e.g. for monitoring transport
streams on a video wall.
A clearly organized user interface is provided for intuitive configuration
and monitoring of the receiver. Automatic configuration and monitoring are
also possible via an SNMP interface. The very compact satellite receiver is
only half the width of a 19ʺ rack and consumes very little power.
