CanarySat and KTSAT Sign Strategic Interoperability MoU in Paris

CanarySat and KTSAT, signed a Strategic Interoperability Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Paris during the International Space Summit, establishing a framework for technical and commercial cooperation in satellite interoperability and services

The MoU reinforces interoperability as one of the fundamental pillars of MAGEC’s value proposition, supporting the development of an open and flexible satellite architecture capable of working alongside other operators, constellations and communications networks.

As satellite infrastructure becomes increasingly essential for secure and resilient connectivity, the ability to coordinate capacity and services between independent systems is becoming a key requirement. Through this MoU, CanarySat and KTSAT will explore mechanisms for capacity exchange, service continuity and coordinated access to satellite resources, creating new opportunities for future commercial cooperation.

The MoU also contributes to the development of more resilient and multi-orbit communications architectures, in which different satellite systems can complement one another to improve continuity, flexibility and coverage. This approach is particularly relevant in a context marked by growing demand for secure, reliable and adaptable connectivity.

Kevin Kyeong-il Choi, CEO of KT SAT, said: “As the satellite communications industry evolves toward multi-orbit networks, interoperability and cooperation between satellite systems are becoming increasingly important. Through this MoU, KT SAT plans to explore practical opportunities for cooperation, including interoperability and service cooperation involving future LEO satellite networks, as well as the development of interconnected services. We will continue to leverage our global partnerships to further strengthen our capabilities in next-generation LEO satellite communications.”

Under the MoU, the companies will assess potential cooperation models based on the exchange of capacity, coordinated service provision and the development of future interoperable solutions. Any collaboration will be guided by strict principles of security, system segregation, regulatory compliance and independent operational control.
