AvL Technologies Awarded $31 Million Contract for WGS-Certified Terminals

September 8, 2026

AvL Technologies announced that it signed a $31 million contract with GISS Sp. z o.o. to provide WGS-certified 2.4-meter trailer-mounted driveaway terminals in support of Poland's Ministry of National Defence.

The award expands AvL's presence in the European defense market and reflects its position as one of the few manufacturers worldwide offering a WGS-certified 2.4-meter trailer-mounted terminal. WGS certification confirms compliance with rigorous standards for secure, reliable and interoperable allied communications.

Certified for X-band and military Ka-band operation, AvL's rugged driveaway system combines a carbon-fiber reflector with precision antenna-positioning technology for high-performance, rapidly deployable communications.

“This award reflects the trust that GISS and the Polish defense community place in AvL’s people, technology and ability to deliver mission-critical communications,” said David Bowne, CEO of AvL Technologies. “It further establishes AvL as a leading solutions provider in the global defense sector, and we are honored to support Poland’s efforts to strengthen secure, resilient communications for current and future missions.”

“This agreement is an important milestone for GISS and affirms our ability to deliver advanced, secure satellite communications solutions to Poland’s defense community,” said Andrzej  Puścian, CEO of GISS. “AvL’s WGS-certified technology and proven record of delivering reliable SATCOM solutions for demanding defense applications, combined with GISS’s local-market expertise, create a strong foundation for long-term cooperation.”

The contract supports Poland's broader investment in defense readiness and modernization.

Poland has been allocated EUR 43.7 billion through the European Union's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) program to advance priorities including border security, air and missile defense, anti-drone systems and military mobility.

The partnership combines AvL's engineering, manufacturing and WGS-certified terminal capabilities with GISS's Polish defense-market expertise, reinforcing AvL's international growth and both companies' ability to support allied governments with field-proven satellite communications technology.
