Unveils Next-Generation Smartellite™ Terminals:
Introducing the Dynamic 16*16 for On-the-Move
Industrial IoT
February 21,
2024
hiSky
announced
the launch of its cutting-edge Smartellite™ Dynamic
16*16 terminals, a significant advancement in the
realm of on-the-move Industrial Internet of Things
(I-IoT).
Designed as
a single-unit solution, the new terminal includes
16-by-16 element electronically steerable antennas
and a MODEM that supports full-duplex and TDD modes,
accommodating various types of use case requirements
such as real-time data sharing, remote
diagnostics, VoIP calls,
and machine-to-machine communication.
Engineered with a slim and ruggedized design,
coupled with low power consumption to meet industry
requirements, and data rate capability of up to
2Mbps with GEO satellites, the 16*16 Dynamic
terminal is positioned as an ideal solution for the
demanding needs of on-the-move industrial IoT.
With hiSky’s
multi-orbit services facilitating seamless handovers
between LEO and GEO constellations planned to start
operational POC during H2 2024, the new Dynamic
16*16 terminal’s typical data rate capabilities will
increase to tens of Mbps, providing unparalleled
various and opportunities in challenging industrial
verticals.
hiSky's
network architecture further enhances the
versatility of the Smartellite™ terminals. With
Unified TDMA channels for message-based
transmissions, On-demand Channels for real-time
communication, and an optional cellular channel for
hybrid connectivity, hiSky can design tailor-made
networks for every industry seeking to digitalize
its remote assets. The assortment of terminals
catering to on-the-move, on-the-pause, low-data
rate, or high-data rate needs adds another layer of
customization, ensuring optimized solutions for
diverse industrial applications.
Using
KU/KA-based frequencies on GEO constellations
further ensures mass networks and reliable
communication, crucial for simultaneous
communication needs at affordable prices.
The new
Smartellite™ terminals are accessible for instant
management on the hiSky360 Network management
system. This cloud-based centralized platform hosts
an operations portal that provides all the
functionality hiSky partners need to manage their
global hiSky networks including configuration,
monitoring, reporting, analysis, billing, etc.’
Global proof
of concepts, including rigorous environmental tests,
have validated the new terminal's ability to thrive
in the toughest industrial conditions. With networks
already established in various segments of
industrial mobility and critical infrastructure, the
Dynamic 16*16 terminal provides a unique combination
of low, medium, and high data rates to meet diverse
communication needs.
“The success
of the new terminal's performance in pre-launch
testing has already led to a significant milestone,”
said Ayelet Schneider, hiSky VP of Market and Sales,
“ as all terminals produced until the second half of
2024 have been swiftly purchased by various hiSky
partners, showcasing the industry's eagerness to
adopt this groundbreaking technology. Together with
many other unique aspects of the hiSky network and
our competitive pricing, we see immense interest, in
significantly expanding the hiSky market”.
