Serco Europe teams with
Starburst to increase access to Space data
Serco Europe announces a key
partnership with Starburst with the objective of
increasing the uptake of Earth Observation data and
space applications by startup organisations and
their ecosystem.
By joining forces, Serco Europe
and Starburst will play a strategic role in
facilitating the access and management of Earth
Observation and Space data for startups.
As part of the partnership,
Starburst will offer a wide range of accelerator and
innovation programmes for entrepreneurs in Europe
and beyond. Earth observation data processed by
Serco will be used by the company to provide
startups with tailored support at each stage of
their growth. Serco and Starburst will also invest
in the education for non-expert users, with
structured training, events, hackathons and
webinars.
Serco Europe is responsible for
the archiving, management and dissemination of
Copernicus data and information through ONDA DIAS, a
cloud-based platform with access to geospatial data,
which aims to facilitate data exploration and boost
the development of innovative applications using
Earth Observation data.
Guido Vingione, Serco Space
Business Development Director, says: “Through this
new partnership, Serco Europe goes a step further in
contributing to the new space economy for the
development of value-added geospatial solutions.
Strengthening partnerships with tech accelerators is
crucial, as we are committed to foster the use of
Space and Earth Observation data to new users and
increase its accessibility to non-expert users”.
