Turksat and Inmarsat announce new cooperation agreement

Inmarsat and Turksat announced a new cooperation agreement that deepens the existing relationship between the two companies and enables Inmarsat to offer its Global Xpress (GX) services via Turksat satellites for GX customers in Turkey.

At the event, Inmarsat and Turksat were represented by Inmarsat’s Deputy Chief Technology Officer, Mark Dickinson and Turksat Vice President Satellite Operations, Selman Demirel, in presence of His Excellency, Murat Mercan, The Turkish Ambassador to the USA and Dr Omer Fatih Sayan, The Turkish Deputy Minister for Transport and Infrastructure and Head of the Turkish Delegation, Hasan Huseyin Ertok, CEO of Turksat and Suleyman Kuzu, Director Satellite Services Marketing and planning.

The new cooperation agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding agreed between the two companies at the end of 2015, an L-band contract signed in March 2016 and a Global Xpress (GX) partnership contract in March 2018.

Initially, the two companies will focus on delivering GX services to the Government, security, defence, maritime and aviation sectors. The companies will expand their coverage to all sectors in the mid to long term, including Internet of Things (IoT).
