Orbit Communications Systems Ltd. announced that its AirTRx VSAT solution now provides full support for iDirect’s airborne satellite communications with a newly-developed ruggedized modem.
The AirTRx ruggedized modem integrates iDirect’s Evolution® Satellite Router Board with a weatherproof enclosure that complies with the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) DO-160G standard and complements Orbit’s field-tested airborne VSAT terminal in X, Ku and Ka bands.
“Working together with Orbit allows our partners to answer the need for unfailing mobile connectivity in the air,” observed David Harrower, Regional Vice President, Europe/Africa/Russia, at VT iDirect. “Orbit’s ruggedized modem, based on our leading mobility technology, allows government and commercial agencies to better support critical operations.”
“The ruggedized modem is an ideal solution for VT iDirect customers who would like to leverage their existing infrastructures to provide airborne connectivity,” explained Mike Gold, Orbit’s VP Sales, North America. “It especially answers the needs of those using multiple platforms for both commercial and governmental applications.”
