Icarusnet and UHP
Networks Expand VSAT Service to Major
European Utility Companies
September 6, 2016
Icarusnet, a leading Italian VSAT
service provider, and UHP Networks, a
Canadian manufacturer of advanced VSAT
equipment, have announced a major
expansion of the Icarusnet network.
The network, which currently has more
than 500 stations, will by the end of
the year increase its size to over 1,500
stations. It operates over
Eutelsat 33C satellite and delivers
enterprise-grade service to a variety of
utility companies across Western Europe
and the Mediterranean area, with plans
to deploy new services in Central Europe
and in the Middle East in 2017-2020.
Fabrizio Carletta, CEO of
Icarusnet, stated “For over 10 years we
have been providing services to leading
electricity and other utility companies
in Europe. We have been operating UHP
technology at our teleport for more than
5 years. A year ago we have
started migrating one of our largest
networks to the new and exciting UHP
technology. Our customers demand
high-availability of the network and
superior quality of service. We were
able to meet and exceed their
requirements via combination of a modern
NOC, state-of-the-art teleport and
advanced UHP VSAT technology. We
launched a new teleport with a
carrier-grade UHP Hub equipped with full
redundancy and VNO capability.
Our successful experience gave our
customers the confidence to expand the
network dramatically. We found UHP
technology can be easily configured to
transport M2M data with a very low
overhead and maximum bandwidth
efficiency. In addition, we are totally
pleased about the relationship with UHP
Networks as a company. UHP
Networks acts with long term vision but
also handles commercial and technical
requests with dynamism and
responsiveness”
Vagan
Shakhgildian, CEO of UHP Networks
commented “Icarusnet has been our
trusted partner for many years. We are
very pleased to support their aggressive
roll out of new services in Europe and
beyond ” .
