Inmarsat has signed an agreement with
specialised managed satellite services
provider, Satcom Global, appointing them as
a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Global
Xpress (GX) covering the maritime and
enterprise markets.
Global
Xpress is the world’s first global mobile
satellite communications service from a
single operator, delivering seamless,
secure, high-speed connectivity on land, at
sea, and in the air. The
addition of Inmarsat’s powerful new Ka-band
capabilities enables Satcom Global to
diversify and enhance the comprehensive
service portfolio it already offers to
maritime and enterprise customers.
Satcom
Global is one of the world’s leading
distributors of mobile satellite
communications, serving a varied customer
base from hubs across the Americas, Asia,
Australia, Europe and the Middle East. Fleet
Xpress will be a welcome expansion of the
Satcom Global maritime offering and sets a
new standard in broadband maritime
communications. Fleet Xpress delivers the
highest levels of reliable broadband
connectivity and exceptional performance
across all of the world’s oceans, as well as
facilitating innovative ‘Connected Ship’
applications.
Satcom
Global is one of Inmarsat’s largest
FleetBroadband (FB) partners, and many of
Satcom Global’s existing FleetBroadband
customers, along with a sizeable number of
XpressLink vessels, will provide a firm
customer base to migrate onto Fleet Xpress.
The
appointment as a GX Enterprise VAR also
serves to expand Satcom Global’s portfolio
of products for remotely located, land-based
users. The combination of portable terminals
and reliable high-speed broadband, is
expected to generate significant demand from
a new generation of end-users. Satcom
Global also anticipates strong interest from
its news broadcast customers, seeking more
powerful, reliable connectivity to meet the
growing demands for live news gathering
wherever and whenever a story breaks.
Ronald
Spithout, President, Inmarsat Maritime,
said: “We are pleased to continue supporting
Satcom Global in their mission to support
mobile and remote customers, and we look
forward to enhancing our collaboration with
a valued and long-standing partner.”
Greg Ewert,
President, Inmarsat Enterprise, said: “As a
leading global GSPS and BGAN partner, Satcom
Global is well placed to take the GX
proposition to the enterprise market. We
look forward to working with them as value
added resellers of the world’s first
globally available, high-speed satellite
broadband service, providing their remote
customers with access to faster data speeds
and a greater variety of land based
applications.”
Ian Robinson,
CEO, Satcom Global said: “We are proud to
have been chosen by Inmarsat as a Value
Added Reseller for both GX Maritime and

their GX VSAT solution. With this new
development, our priority is to pass on a

including high-throughput connectivity, to
our valued customers across two of our
largest markets.”
In
preparation for delivery of the extension of
their service portfolio, Satcom Global has
GX-trained their in-house network of

installations across the globe. The
company’s engineering capability strengthens
their proposition as a true value added
reseller, along with their global support
network and in-house product development
team focussing on delivering an enhanced
