Tel Aviv–15 June 2016
Spacecom and HDT (Hungaro DigiTel Kft.), announced that they are broadcasting the festivities surrounding the UEFA Euro 2016 Football Tournament to Hungary. Spacecom's AMOS-3 communications satellite, from its 4°W prime orbital position, is supporting the Tournament by carrying live broadcasts, behind the scenes content, special interviews and more from France to Budapest.
"HDT's Euro 2016 broadcast project enhances our broadcast cooperation with Spacecom and its AMOS satellite fleet," stated HDT General Manager, Antonio Felizardo. "For over a decade we have been working closely with Spacecom in our data transmission business. Over the past few years we have begun working in the broadcast field and we are excited by this shared initiative which adds a new aspect to our teamwork."
According to Spacecom's Eyal Altshuler, Vice president Sales, CEE, "From its perch at 4°W, AMOS-3 is broadcasting the festivities surrounding Hungary's national football team playing in Euro 2016, and related specials. This important collaboration raises the profile of HDT's broadcast business and provides further impetus for our operations in Hungary and other areas in CEE."
Spacecom's newest satellite, AMOS-6, is scheduled to launch to the AMOS 4°W 'hot spot' later in 2016. This satellite's 39 Ku-band segments and 24 Ka-band beams will provide a wide array of services. The new satellite will incorporate new technologies such as High Throughput Ka-band spot beams for improved broadband internet access. The Ka-band spot beams will cover Europe and Africa as well as Ku-band technologies for new and existing clients. Its Ka-band beams have been selected by Facebook to be the satellite backbone of an initiative to bring broadband Internet to Sub Sahara Africa.
