ETL: RF solution for marine TVRO services

ETL have recently launched a new range of component RF over fibre modules which can be mounted near the antenna, transmitting L-band signals from multiple stabilised antennas mounted on the super structure (whilst providing LNB power) to indoor fibre receivers in a compact 1U high chassis.

The signals are then passed to matrices which are used to switch signals between receivers. Combined with a 3rd party management system the vessel owner can have complete flexibility over system configuration. These signals can be routed to provide TVRO services on board the vessel.

Isolation, frequency response and linearity are all at class-leading levels, ensuring excellent RF performance for your RF receive chain. Local control is provided via a compact keypad and display; whilst remote control is available via serial and Ethernet ports.

With the demand for Internet access and video streaming soaring, so does the need for more bandwidth through high throughput satellites (HTS), and the requirement for Ka-band technologies. Model VTR-70 is designed to operate over 50-2500MHz, so is ideal for Ka-band applications. It can be purchased from 4 inputs x 4 outputs with the option to expand in single steps remotely via software license keys up to 16 inputs x 16 outputs. This feature minimises the disruption to operators services and provides flexibility by enabling the users to start with a smaller matrix.
