Digicel Group Selects Stream Technologies IoT-X platform to power the Internet of Things

Stream Technologies has been selected by Digicel Group, a leading global communications provider with operations in 33 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and Asia Pacific, to drive its Internet of Things (IoT) growth strategy.

Digicel will leverage the award-winning Stream IoT-X unified access connectivity environment to enable comprehensive and secure management of connected devices regardless of connection type – allowing its customers to reach beyond the gateway all the way to the sensor level and providing a single, unified view of every relevant connection, whether it be satellite, cellular, Wi-Fi, short-range or low-power WAN.

With this system, Digicel will be able to provide a first class solution that enables its customers to keep track of their businesses – whether they are monitoring refrigeration levels at local grocery outlets, critical systems inside hospital buildings, or the location and mechanical fitness of a local taxi fleet, customers will be able to manage not only the cellular connection transmitting information to the Internet, but also all related sensors reporting data to the aggregating cellular portal. After all, understanding the status of the cellular gateway is important – but isn’t much help if a downstream temperature sensor, window sensor or GPS device is not working properly.

The IoT-X platform was identified by ABI Research as “one of the most disruptive technologies to hit the IoT market in years,” in their report Hot Tech Innovators, released last month.

“Stream is delighted to be selected by Digicel Group as their strategic IoT partner,” said Nigel Chadwick, CEO of Stream Technologies. “We look forward to working with them to deliver market-leading IoT solutions for their customers.”

“As Internet of things connections proliferate across our network, we are committed to providing optimal solutions for our customers,” said Digicel Business Group Director of Products, Martin Carroll. “Stream’s multi-connectivity platform, private APN backhaul network, global reach, deep vertical expertise, and partner eco-system made them the natural choice to enable Digicel to deliver complete IoT solutions for our customers.”

“Stream is the first company that provides a carrier grade CDP that is connectivity type and data type agnostic,” according to James Brehm, leading industry analyst. “Progressive carriers like Digicel are hungry for multi-technology, access agnostic solutions because IoT requires more than just activating a SIM card. The adoption of IoT-X places Digicel squarely among the most innovative network operators in the IoT marketplace.”
