Comtech Received
$1.6 Million Equipment and Professional Services
Order for New Telecommunications Network in
Middle East and Africa
Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $1.6
million order for satellite infrastructure
equipment and professional services. The
equipment will be utilized by a
telecommunications service provider to roll out
a new Pan-African satellite-based mobile
backhaul and international trunking network. The
network hub will be based in the United Arab
Emirates, and this first phase of deployment
will be to remote sites in Chad and South Sudan.
A full array of Comtech EF Data solutions will be
leveraged and rolled out into what will be six different
African countries at the final stage of the network,
including the high-end CDM-760 Advanced High-Speed
Trunking Modem and the mid-range CDM-625A Advanced
Satellite Modem. The CDM-760 modems will enable very
high-speed international Internet and voice trunks,
while the CDM-625A modems will support cost-effective 2G
and 3G network rollouts into rural areas within each of
the countries.
Both of these modems feature best-in-class bandwidth
efficiencies, DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier®
bandwidth compression, and have the horsepower and
headroom to allow for growth as end user throughput
requirements increase, a key advantage due to the remote
and adverse conditions of these remote locations. The
advanced feature sets of these modems minimize overall
total cost of ownership and ensure that sustainable and
profitable service expansion can be accomplished into
the most rural and remote areas.
Comtech EF Data’s NetVueTM Integrated
Management System will provide the service provider a
single robust, comprehensive network management and
analytics engine for all modem and RF equipment. The
ability of NetVueTM to manage the entire
baseband and RF solution suite is key to maximize use of
resources, ensure network uptime and provide the levels
of service that the service provider will require to
host Virtual Network Operators (VNOs) that will all
share the same infrastructure. NetVueTM will
provide immediate insight into user-defined key
performance indicators along with the traffic and trend
analysis that will ensure resource utilization is
maximized, potential congestion is addressed and the
network is optimized – all key when hosting multiple VNO
providers.
To support the integrated satellite network
infrastructure, also included in the complete package
was Comtech EF Data’s premium service, ESS Prime, which
provides 24x7 engineering support and consultation to
ensure all resources are utilized in the best manner
possible. The ESS Prime service is backed by a large
team of seasoned satellite network engineers who have
designed, implemented and optimized networks around the
world.
“This service provider chose to partner with Comtech
EF Data for their Pan-African network as we offered them
a total end-to-end optimized solution that provided them
the ability to penetrate new markets and grow their
business,” commented Fred Kornberg, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.
“Telecommunications operators globally trust our
solutions to provide new, enhanced services and rely on
us before, during and after new network roll-outs to
facilitate the best levels of service to their VNOs and
end users.”
