and HD TV
channels
Globecomm
announced today
that it received
a contract to
design and
integrate new
DTH platforms at
each of two
teleports
operated by Sky,
a global DTH
service
provider. Each
platform
consists of an
11-meter Ku-band
antenna capable
of supporting up
to 16 carriers
on Intelsat
IS-16, with
indoor
rack-mounted
electronics,
antenna-mounted
broadband power
amplifiers,
receive
subsystems and
Globecomm’s
AxxSys® Orion
network monitor
and control
systems. The new
platforms will
allow facility
disaster
recovery for the
direct-to-home
services via
site diversity
at the Rio de la
Loza teleport
and the Santa Fe
teleport.
“This new project
continues our long-term
collaboration with Sky
and Televisa in Mexico
and exemplifies our
vision to be the leading
provider of next
generation media based
solutions globally,”
said Gerard Johnston,
Vice President Americas.
“We are proud to
contribute to the
success of one of the
industry’s most
successful pay
television providers.”
Globecomm’s approach
to achieve its vision is
to continue to design
and integrate broadcast
uplink facilities,
complex data centers,
Direct to Home (DTH)
facilities, media
platforms and network
technology upgrades
while stressing
flexibility over its
global fiber and
satellite network for
contribution to
distribution and life
cycle support services.
