ITC Global Expands Satellite Network Coverage Over Sub-Saharan Africa Powered by Intelsat Spacecraft

March 11, 2014

ITC Global has launched a new network over Sub-Saharan Africa, utilizing the Intelsat IS-25 spacecraft.  Designed to provide high performance voice, video, and data communications for remote mining and energy operations, the network covers most of the African continent, including both western and eastern coastal regions.

ITC Global's new network combines over 150 Mbps of Intelsat IS-25 C-band satellite capacity with industry leading very small aperture terminal (VSAT) modem technology to deliver high performance communications to even the most remote industrial operations.  The Sub-Saharan Africa Network is available for individual site locations in four pre-packaged configurations, ranging in data rates from 1 megabit per second (Mbps) to 4Mbps.  For clients with multiple locations in the regions, custom private networks are available at speeds of up to 50Mbps.  The new Africa network expands ITC Global's already impressive worldwide satellite service coverage, which includes termination points in over 20 international teleports, capacity on over 30 satellites, and services in over 60 countries and all the world's oceans.

This latest network development is part of ITC Global's ongoing commitment to provide innovative solutions that enable remote industrial operations to increase real-time situational awareness, improve productivity, and enhance Health and Safety and Environment programs. The high-throughput of ITC Global's networks enable clients to benefit from ever more bandwidth intensive applications. Faster data throughput will improve the network's ability to handle multiple IP applications on a unified platform, such as Voice over IP, radio over IP, CCTV, remote permission and control, and the automation of critical operational tasks for both mining and energy.

"We are very pleased to work with Intelsat, as we continue to expand our global service offerings across more remote regions," said ITC Global's Senior Vice President of Space Segment, Michael Spytek. "ITC Global has more than doubled the size of our business over the past two years and Intelsat has been a trusted and collaborative partner in meeting our growing needs for space segment"
