SES announced today
that its long-standing
partner NordNet has
developed a new
on-demand satellite
broadband offering, for
which it contracted
additional Ka-band
capacity on the SES
satellite ASTRA 2F. The
solution, based on SES
Broadband Services’
technology, offers
download speeds of up to
20 Mbit/s for second
residences and holiday
homes in France and is
marketed in France.
NordNet’s offering called
“Satellite Internet Tempo”
is an on-demand internet
access, which is available
with a monthly subscription
of 3 Euros. With this
subscription, customers can
order an internet pass for
2.99 Euros per day. The
offer also includes a
permanent Voice over IP
telephone connection and,
with the help of the
included television-LNB,
access to television
channels from the ASTRA
orbital slot 19.2 degrees
East.
"We are happy that
NordNet is again pioneering
satellite broadband services
in Europe, offering the
first on-demand
satellite-based internet
service for second
residences and holiday homes
in France,” said Patrick
Biewer, Managing Director of
SES Broadband Services. “We
are convinced that this new
offering, with its Triple
Play features, is a complete
solution that responds to
currently unserved needs in
the market.”
