Globalstar Europe Satellite Services signs VAM agreement with
KFT
Dec 11, 2012
Globalstar Europe Satellite Services Ltd., has signed a
value added manufacturer, or VAM, agreement with KFT SpA of Merone,
Italy.
KFT has developed a fully integrated M2M tracking device using
the Globalstar STXII chip set. This device will be marketed to the
defence, government, maritime, transportation and mining sectors
within Europe, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Globalstar is currently planning to launch six additional LEO
(low-earth orbit) satellites in early February 2013, completing its
second-generation satellite launches. The Globalstar
second-generation satellite constellation is designed to support the
Company's current line-up of voice, Duplex and Simplex M2M data
products and services including its suite of SPOT retail consumer
products. The new satellites are designed to last for 15 years,
twice the lifespan of Globalstar's first-generation satellites,
Globalstar said.
"We are delighted to be working with KFT and expanding
Globalstar's reach into Eastern Europe and the Middle East with this
revolutionary new M2M tracking device," said Mark O'Connell,
Director European Sales & Business Operations, Globalstar Europe
Satellite Services Ltd.
