IO Sat is Among First Customers Operating On AMOS-5 Communications Satellite
15 February 2012
Spacecom announced that IO Sat, a provider of satellite broadband data services for small and medium size businesses, is one of the first customers providing its services on the AMOS-5 communications satellite.
Spacecom's AMOS-5 satellite, serving Africa from the 17°E orbital position with C-band and Ku-band beams, recently began commercial operations. IO Sat is utilizing ample capacity on the satellite's C-band beam to offer an array of data, voice and video applications to clients requiring services in Africa.
Ofer Kastner, CEO of IO Sat remarked, "AMOS-5's position over Africa enables our clients to cover the entire continent, which is a very effective proposition for their businesses. We are helping small and medium sized businesses by providing communications services based on our capacity. We find the AMOS-5 is prime real estate when working with African communications providers."
Eyal Copitt, Spacecom's Sr. VP for Africa Sales, said, "AMOS-5 aims to be a leading provider of traffic for African communications in both broadcast and data services in the years to come. Our work with IO Sat is a good indicator of the communications services that we enable and we look forward to building more relationships throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa via the AMOS-5's capabilities."
