Teledyne DALSA Secures Earth Observation Contract with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd
Dec 08, 2011
Teledyne DALSA, will partner with Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL), a leading provider of operational and commercial satellite programmes, to develop a new multispectral sensor for an advanced earth observation application. With the help of Teledyne DALSA's expertise in multispectral imaging, the multimillion dollar development project is expected to begin delivering high resolution images during 2014.
This earth observation application will utilize the DMC3 satellite constellation and demand higher resolution commercial earth imaging than any past project. The multispectral sensors developed by Teledyne DALSA will allow SSTL's subsidiary company and client, DMC International Imaging, to acquire higher resolution data for applications such as urban planning and environment and disaster monitoring.
"We are very pleased that SSTL has chosen to award Teledyne DALSA this prestigious contract," said Philip Colet, VP of Sales and Marketing at Teledyne DALSA. "We are confident that our experience with designs optimized for radiation hardness and extreme environments typical in space will give SSTL and its customer a competitive advantage."
Teledyne DALSA's multispectral imaging solutions leverage its long experience in leading edge design, fabrication and packaging technologies to achieve multispectral sensitivity in a single fully miniaturized package. A single device can contain multiple imaging areas tailored to different multispectral bandwidths in a highly cost effective and reliable package. By integrating dichroic filters and image sensors in a single package, Teledyne DALSA can deliver highly efficient multispectral sensors.
