DETECON Al Saudia Launches Geo-Redundant VSAT Service In Saudi Arabia Powered By Idirect’s Evolution Platform
May 24, 2011
iDirect, Inc. announced that Detecon Al Saudia, a provider of telecommunication and IT services to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, is launching a geo-redundant satellite service in Saudi Arabia based on iDirect’s Evolution product line. Detecon Al Saudia purchased and installed two iDirect series 15100 universal satellite hubs, one at its existing tier III+ datacenter facility in Riyadh and the other at a new backup datacenter in Jeddah. The network is designed to provide critical data communications backup for financial institutions, corporations, government agencies and military organizations. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.
By leveraging its dual iDirect hub network architecture and redundant datacenters, Detecon Al Saudia will be able to restore a customer link in as few as 120 seconds should it go down. This capability is attracting customers to adopt the service, including a prominent bank based in Saudi Arabia, which plans to back-up that nation’s largest ATM network. Utilizing the correct technology and redundant datacenters will enable business and government organizations to protect their communications infrastructures from failure or interruption caused by natural disasters, network intrusion and other events.
iDirect’s Evolution platform will power Detecon Al Saudia’s network, utilizing the next-generation DVB-S2 standard with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) to provide maximum efficiency for critical traffic in a highly reliable, secure environment. Detecon Al Saudia will be using iDirect’s iDX 2.1 software, which further increases efficiency for DVB-S2 networks and integrates ACM efficiency gains with iDirect’s Group Quality of Service feature. This enables Detecon Al Saudia to offer more reliable Service Level Agreement (SLA) guarantees to its customers.
“A redundancy network must be able to seamlessly handle all of a primary network’s critical traffic at any moment, and do so efficiently and securely. With Evolution, we not only benefit from a world-class VSAT platform that is up to the challenge, but also gain a scalable and flexible solution that enables us to meet the demanding SLA requirements of many high-profile customers.” said
Dirk Doerrshuck, Vice President, Information and Communication Technologies, Detecon Al Saudia
“Lost access to critical information for even short periods of time can do irreparable damage across an organization, impacting both revenue and reputation. Detecon Al Saudia’s new network will provide a valuable failsafe for Saudi Arabia’s economy and government, ensuring that organizations are able to maintain constant connectivity for their core operations,” noted, Majdi Atout
