Belarus to set up telecommunications satellite consortium

20 December 2010

Belarus plans to create a consortium for developing a telecommunications satellite technology, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told media on 19 December.

“We believe the comsat should become a commercial pay-your-way project,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

In his words, the drafting of the relevant decree is underway. “An associated consortium will be set up; the feasibility study is currently carried out,” Mikhail Myasnikovich stated.

“We are planning that the satellite telecommunications will make up a commercial constituent as well as boost cooperation between the government bodies and other channels of communication,” the head of the National Academy of Sciences stressed.
