Bentley
Walker
Delivers
C
Band
Satellite
Services
in
to
Africa
11
November
2010
Bentley
Walker,
has
this
week
announced
new
C-Band
satellite
internet
services
for
customers
in
Africa,
Europe
and
the
Middle
East.
The
new
C-Band
service
has
been
built
to
offer
class
leading
signal
strength
and
quality
of
service
throughout
the
coverage
area,
where
it
will
bring
two-way
broadband
internet
to
remote
areas.
The
C-Band
services
will
complement
the
broad
range
of
satellite
internet
options
that
Bentley
Walker
offer.
C-Band
satellite
is a
popular
choice
in
areas
prone
to
tropical
storms
and
other
heavy
precipitation.
As
C-Band
utilises
a
longer
wavelength
for
transmission
this
is
inherently
less
prone
to
the
drop
in
signal
strength
that
can
be
experienced
during
particularly
bad
weather
when
using
short
wavelength
systems.
As a
result
of
the
new
service
provision,
Bentley
Walker
are
able
to
offer
a
number
of
C-Band
options
to
suit
all
customers
with
a
need
for
a
rain
fade
resistant
remote
internet
connection.
From
dedicated
connections
(1:1
contention)
for
corporate
user
through
5:1
and
10:1
contention
packages
able
to
bring
remote
service
at a
budget
price.
FAP
free
subscriptions
will
also
be
sure
to
appeal,
giving
customers
fixed
prices
independent
of
their
upload/download
usage.
Customers
across
Africa
and
Europe
are
already
signing
up
to
the
service,
either
ordering
hardware
through
Bentley
Walker
and
their
local
agents
or
using
existing
hardware.
The
1.8m
dishes
that
C-Band
utilises
are
already
common
throughout
Africa
and
the
recommended
modem,
the
iDirect
Evolution
X3,
will
already
be
familiar
to
many
users.
Where
Bentley
Walker's
C-Band
service
differs
is
in
the
infrastructure
in
place
to
deliver
the
best
possible
service
to
its
customers.
Bentley
Walker's
C-Band
service
is
uplinked
from
the
new
Skylogic
teleport
in
Sardinnia,
one
of
the
most
modern
ground
stations
available,
and
certainly
one
of
the
best
positioned
to
deliver
broadband
services
in
to
Africa.
This
announcement
marks
the
continuation
of a
fruitful
relationship
between
Skylogic
and
Bentley
Walker
who
already
are
heavy
users
of
Skylogic's
Teleport
in
Turin.
