Nynex expands services on NSS-12 in partnership with CETel
19 October 2010
NYNEX Network Solutions has partnered with CETel (Central European Telecom Services) to expand its satellite IP network and introduce new broadband services on the NSS-12 satellite. The satellite network will serve customers in the Middle East and Africa, extending new capacity to Nynex’s fast-growing market base.
To support the service expansion, Nynex has installed an iDirect 5IF Hub in CETel’s state-of-the-art teleport facilities in Bonn, Germany. CETel is a major international teleport operator and global service provider, managing more than 30 antennas and service networks on 20 different satellites. CETel is offering the complete solution including hub hosting, satellite capacity, up-and downlink services as well as broadband IP connectivity. This new service offering serves the demand in the developing and emerging markets in the Middle East as well as in East Africa.
The new network is built on iDirect’s Evolution platform, leveraging the iDX 2.1 operating system. Nynex has previously rolled out Evolution networks in the Middle East and Africa and recorded significant bandwidth efficiency gains through iDirect’s implementation of DVB-S2, Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) and 2D 16-State inbound coding.
“Backed by iDirect’s Evolution platform and CETel’s advanced teleport operations, Nynex is able to offer highly reliable broadband communications service at affordable subscription rates,” said Andreas Buxbaum, CEO of Nynex. This is tremendous news for businesses and organizations in the region that need greater access to communications technology in order to expand their operations.”
Guido Neumann, Managing Director of CETel, added, “This strategic expansion will enable Nynex and CETel to expand our service portfolio and extend our leading network solutions to additional regions and customers throughout the world.”
