RSCC
and
the
Group
of
Companies
Primrybsnab
agreed
to
use
RSCC
VSAT
network
for
providing
telecommunication
services
on
maritime
vessels
7
October
2010
Russian
Satellite
Communications
Company
(RSCC),
and
the
public
corporation
Yuzhmorrybflot,
which
belongs
to
the
Group
of
Companies
Primrybsnab,
have
concluded
the
contract
on
providing
the
satellite
communications
services.
Utilizing
capabilities
of
the
RSCC
VSAT
network,
Yuzhmorrybflot
will
be
able
to
implement
its
project
on
merging
the
entities
of
the
Group
of
Companies
Primrybsnab,
including
the
maritime
vessels,
into
a
unified
corporate
network.
The
satellite
terminals
operating
in
the
above
network
are
planned
to
number
20
units
till
1
June
2011.
Introducing
the
satellite
communications
system
on
the
Yuzhmorrybflot
vessels
will
provide
the
ship’s
companies
with
high-quality
affordable
communications
with
their
relatives
and
friends
as
well
as
with
Internet
access,
multi-program
TV
and
it
will
enable
onshore
operative
management
of
the
vessels
as
well.
According
to
Alexander
Efremov,
Director
General
of
the
public
corporation
Yuzhmorrybflot,
“using
capabilities
of
the
new
generation
communications
will
not
only
create
more
comfortable
conditions
on
vessels
for
fishers
and
significantly
increase
the
security
level
of
navigation
but
also
it
can
become
a
basis
for
introduction
of
the
Electron-Ship’s
Fishing
Log
hardware
and
software
complex.
For
implementing
the
project
corresponding
to
the
world
standards
in
the
communications
industry,
the
central
station
of
the
VSAT-RSCC
network
deployed
in
Khabarovsk
has
been
involved.
The
station
operates
via
the
Express-AM3
satellite
(140°
East)
which
enables
the
VSAT-terminals
on
the
whole
territory
of
Eastern
Siberia
and
the
Far
East
to
be
connected
to
the
network.
The
peculiarity
of
the
project
is
employing
sea
antennas
for
transmission
and
synchronization
of
the
data
bases,
Internet
access,
telephony,
reception
of
digital
TV
signal
on
board
the
maritime
vessels.
“The
video
and
telecommunications
services
on
maritime
vessels
are
one
of
the
most
promising
directions
of
RSCC’
VSAT-project
development
and
allow
us
to
significantly
increase
efficiency
of
fishing
and
shipping
companies
business”
-
states
Yuri
Prokhorov,
RSCC’
Director
General.
-
“We
are
sure
that
under
modern
conditions
a
broadband
Internet
access,
data
transmission,
telephony
as
well
as
possibility
to
receive
TV
programs
are
the
services
of
the
first
necessity.
The
VSAT
satellite
technologies
offer
the
most
optimal
solutions
to
provide
these
services
on
the
maritime
vessels.
It
is
practically
the
first
project
in
Russia
while
international
experience
has
testified
a
huge
demand
for
communications
services
on
the
maritime
vessels”.
