Sept. 22
The Malibu Division of Communications & Power Industries, Inc. has been awarded an initial contract valued at more than $3 million by Aerlyper, a Spanish aeronautical company specializing in avionics and electronics and a subcontractor to SAES, a Spanish company that provides electronic and underwater detection systems. Under the contract, CPI Malibu will design, manufacture and integrate highly advanced data link antenna systems enabling ship-to-ship, ship-to-air and ship-to-satellite communications for defense applications. The initial contract duration is expected to last through 2014.
"The complexities found in shipboard applications require unique capabilities, and the CPI Malibu team has demonstrated extensive expertise in this field. This expertise, combined with the knowledge and skill of the Aerlyper and SAES teams, will enable us to develop first-rate communications technology for this and future shipboard applications," said Ricardo Pradella, chief executive officer of Aerlyper.
"We look forward to a productive and lengthy partnership with Aerlyper. Having the opportunity to work with a world-class organization like this, and providing complex data link systems with applications on a global scale, fully leverages the unique antenna design and development capabilities of CPI Malibu," stated Grant Hintze, president CPI Malibu Division.
