Vizada and Indigo bring the IsatPhone Pro to customers in Kenya

20 September 2010

Vizada, in partnership with Indigo Telecom launches the IsatPhone Pro in Kenya.

Vizada has partnered with Indigo Telecom to make the widely anticipated IsatPhone from Inmarsat available to customers based in Kenya and operating in other parts of East Africa, notably Sudan and Somalia.

IsatPhone Pro is the first global handheld solution offered by Inmarsat. The low Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the complete handset and accessory kit makes satellite handheld service significantly more affordable for users. The product offers global connectivity, Bluetooth-compatibility and the longest battery life on the market. It is ideal for government, media, NGO, oil and gas, mining and construction professionals working in challenging conditions and/or remote regions because of its ability to operate at extreme temperatures, ranging from -20°C to 55°C, and its inclusion of keyboard-sized buttons to accommodate gloved fingers. Inmarsat has confirmed that full terminal availability will occur a few weeks following commercial launch. Indigo have stocks of the IsatPhone Pro and confirmed orders with organisations from the  Military, Media, Mining and energy sectors, all wishing to take advantage of the Isatphone Pro’s versatility.

“There has been a lot of anticipation in Kenya for this product, because of its unique features and user friendly handset, so we are delighted to be able to make it available to an eager market,” said  Roger Harfouch, Regional Manager, Vizada Middle East. “It’s exciting when you know people are literally queuing up to buy.”

The IsatPhone Pro is bundled with Vizada Solutions to optimize the service with cost-effective tools for daily communication and administration needs. Examples include The Source, a web based online management tool that allow users to check and manage accounts and Vizada’s Universal Card™, a prepaid service that allows users to pay for voice, internet, SMS and email with one card.

Indigo and Vizada are also working in partnership to provide BGAN services to customers operating in East Africa, allowing them to extend their connectivity beyond Kenya’s borders to remote areas.
