Cobham Satcom antenna system certified on Airbus Long Range family

23 July 2010

Cobham SATCOM, announced that its HGA-7001 High Gain Antenna system has been certified on the Airbus Long Range family of aircraft.

This complements an ever growing range of airframes on which the system is deployed, including Boeing B737, B747, B767, B777 and B787 and Airbus A320, A350 and A400M, and confirms the general appeal and acceptance that this product enjoys in the aeronautical market.

The HGA-7001 antenna is part of Cobham SATCOM’s extensive range of market leading antennas (including the HGA-8000/7000/6500/6000 and IGA-5001/5006) and sets new standards in drag reduction, weight, compactness and power requirements for aircraft connectivity systems.

The antennas are complemented by Cobham SATCOM’s compact and modular SwiftBroadband products, enabling internet, email, VPN, fax and telephony while airborne, with configuration options to fit virtually every aircraft from Very Light Jets to airliners.

“With the Long Range program certified, we can now finalise adding this same capability to the Airbus A380,” said John DeSana, Vice President of Cobham SATCOM (Air and Marine Systems).
