Turksat
agreement
with
Hughes
Europe
expands
government,
corporate
and
consumer
communications
offering

June,
2010
Turksat,
has
signed
an
agreement
with
Hughes
Europe
for
the
supply
of
an
HX
satellite
broadband
platform
and
1,750
remote
terminals,
as
it
looks
to
expand
its
range
of
communications
services
across
the
public
and
private
sectors.
As
part
of
the
agreement,
Hughes
Europe
has
successfully
implemented
the
HX
Network
Operations
Center
at
Turksat’s
premises
in
Ankara
during
the
last
quarter
of
2009,
while
the
deployment
of
the
remote
terminals
for
several
end-users
has
started
in
2010.
The
capabilities
of
the
HX
platform
allow
Turksat
to
implement
a
wide
range
of
managed
services
to
government
agencies
and
other
public
sector
organisations
-
including
the
provision
of
public
service
information
- as
well
as
to
enterprise
businesses
and
consumer
broadband
services.
The
HX
platform
is
supporting
both
traditional
star-topology
networks
and
mesh
connectivity
as
Turksat
looks
to
extend
its
commercial
offering
in
Turkey
and
the
surrounding
region.
“Turksat
selected
the
HX
platform
because
of
the
impressive
breadth
and
robustness
of
the
Hughes
network,
together
with
its
strongly
differentiated
service
offering.
At
the
same
time,
price-competitiveness
was
a
critical
consideration
as
we
move
into
the
highly
competitive
consumer
communications
market.”
“Turkey
is
one
of
the
most
important
growth
markets
for
us
in
South
Eastern
Europe,”
says
Christopher
Britton,
managing
director,
Hughes
Europe.
“The
new
agreement
with
Turksat
marks
a
key
step
forward
in
consolidating
our
position
as a
leading
provider
of
satellite-based
communications
capable
of
meeting
the
needs
of
all
markets.”
