Solaris Mobile Publish 2010 Annual Overview Report

Solaris Mobile Ltd, published its 2010 Annual Overview Report which details key activities and performance highlights for the last year.
Since the company was authorised to use the frequency bands 1995-2010MHz and 2185-2200 MHz in all member states of the European Union in May 2009, Solaris Mobile has made solid progress in deploying their network infrastructure and defining their service offering in the key markets of mobile TV, satellite digital radio, public safety communications and mobile broadband
On 3 April 2009 Solaris Mobile launched their S-band payload, and is now in a position to offer satellite and terrestrial CGC infrastructure as demonstrated in a number of sites throughout Europe over the last 12 months. Following the success of the Paris platform, the service has been extended to the areas of Rennes and Nancy, to demonstrate the continuity of reception between cities, using the hybrid terrestrial and satellite network.
In May 2010 Solaris Mobile was granted 18 year licenses to operate Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) in France, Sweden and Germany, bringing the total number of licences awarded to Solaris Mobile, in member state countries to seven which also include Finland, Luxembourg, Italy, and Slovenia. These licences allow Solaris Mobile’s hybrid network to be deployed within the EU and will enable the provision of a range of broadcast and broadband services including TV, radio, voice, data and other broadband services to mobile devices.
Steve Maine, Chief Executive, Solaris Mobile said, significant progress and development was achieved by the organisation during the last year, with the commercial offer of the W2A S-band capacity our core focus.
“After a very successful year in fulfilling our plans to meet the commitments made according to the European Selection and Authorisation Process, we are now looking ahead to maintaining momentum in enhancing mobile communications across Europe. Solaris Mobile is currently engaged in defining and promoting the service offerings attached to the S-band for the delivery of next generation mobile satellite services throughout the 27 European member states to potential customers and strategic partnerships.”
“In the coming months, Solaris Mobile will be engaged in setting up additional demonstration trial platforms for TV broadcasting, radio and data services in certain other markets. These activities will demonstrate the benefits of the solution offered by Solaris which include immediate satellite coverage of the area opening up new opportunities to deliver next generation broadband and broadcast services to mobile devices”, he concluded.
