IsNet agreement to purchase HX satellite broadband platform extends Hughes Europe presence in Turkey

25 May, 2010:

Hughes Europe is set to grow its share of the expanding Turkish communications market, following the agreement with IsNet to install an HX satellite broadband platform together with an initial 200 remote terminals.

IsNet, a wholly-owned subsidiary of leading Turkish banking group, Isbank, provides satellite and terrestrial-based managed network services to corporate and SME businesses throughout Turkey and neighbouring countries, including local banks and petrol retailers.

“We have selected Hughes Europe as it is the acknowledged leader of VSAT communications, with a proven reputation for technical excellence, reliability and performance,” confirms IT director, Halil Bayindir.  “Equally importantly, the company matches this with first-class service support and all at a highly competitive price.”

Following successful implementation of the HX Network Operations Center (NOC) at IsNet’s premises in Istanbul during the second half of 2009, talks are already underway to further expand the NOC capabilities in order to enable IsNet to provide additional services. “The agreement with IsNet reflects our determination to expand our established footprint in this important region,” says Christopher Britton, managing director, Hughes Europe, “and provides yet another example of how our HX platform meets the demanding requirements of superior technology and cost-effectiveness which are key to success in this market.”

The HX platform implemented at IsNet is providing both traditional star-topology and mesh connectivity, which has been a key requirement of IsNet in the selection of the Hughes platform, and is a strategic feature in the provision of managed network services to the banking industry.
