AMOS Satellites Add Fourth DTH Platform: Slovak Telekom Launches Magio TV Service Reaching All of Slovakia

3 May 2010

Spacecom announced that Slovak Telekom’s Magio TV has launched its satellite TV service on the AMOS-3 satellite. Magio TV, under the T-Com brand, is the third European DTH (Direct-to-Home) service, and fourth overall, on the AMOS satellite constellation, located at Spacecom ’s 4°W prime orbital position. Slovak Telekom is a subsidiary of the global Deutsche Telekom group.

Magio TV, which complements Slovak Telekom’s IPTV and broadband Internet offerings, is now available to all of Slovakia as a stand-alone digital TV service or as part of the incumbent telecom’s other services. It joins fellow DTH services Hungary’s T-Home SatTV, Romania’s BOOM and Israel’s YES on Spacecom’s AMOS constellation.

“The addition of our satellite broadcast service on AMOS extends Magio’s TV coverage across all of Slovakia enabling us to satisfy a greater variety of customer needs and provide access to the advantages of Magio TV‘s programming,“ said Slovak Telekom COO, Ruediger J. Schulz. “Further, the fact that Magio TV’s launch occurred in cooperation with our sister company, Magyar Telekom, demonstrates Deutsche Telekom’s commitment to creating synergies within the group.”

“The addition of this fourth DTH platform strengthens the AMOS satellite brand in Central and Eastern Europe,” remarked Ori Onn, Spacecom COO. “Our partnership with Slovak Telekom serves as an excellent example of our ability to tailor solutions for local and regional players, our key
competitive advantage in this market.”

Spacecom president and CEO David Pollack commented, “We are proud to add another DTH platform to our satellite neighborhood through our relationship with the leading global telecom group, Deutsche Telekom. Delivering high quality service on a powerful platform is part of what elevates AMOS and helps our business grow.”
