Far EasTone Partners
with Elveo Mobile to Expand Its Direct-to-Device
Satellite Strategy
Oct 27, 2026, 08:32 ET
Far EasTone and Elveo Mobile
announced a partnership to expand FET's presence across
emerging satellite technologies and services. The
partnership complements FET's broader satellite
communications capabilities, which span satellite
broadband and D2D connectivity, and commitment to
continuing to develop next-generation technologies and
digital services.
"The next generation of
communications will be driven by the integration of
terrestrial and satellite networks," said FET President
Chee Ching. "FET continues to expand its satellite
capabilities, from satellite broadband to D2D
connectivity, while integrating them with our mobile
network. Our collaboration with Elveo Mobile marks an
important milestone in advancing D2D satellite services
and strengthening network resilience and coverage toward
always-on, seamless connectivity."
FET added that, as demand for
uninterrupted connectivity continues to grow, the
company will further integrate terrestrial and satellite
communications to extend coverage beyond geographical
boundaries, enable new applications for consumers,
enterprises and public services, and strengthen Taiwan's
overall communications resilience.
"Elveo Mobile is building a network
that combines satellite assets, global spectrum
resources, and a worldwide ecosystem of more than 50
mobile network partners. Far EasTone shares our
commitment to collaborative innovation and digital
resilience," said Elveo Mobile CEO Ramu Potarazu.
"Together, we will advance the development of
direct-to-device satellite services enabling reliable,
next-generation connectivity for Far EasTone's customers
and the Taiwan market. This partnership is a strategic
step in strengthening communications resilience for the
region and bringing seamless connectivity to more
places, devices and applications."
Expanding Direct-to-Device
Satellite Capabilities and Building a Multi-Layer
Communications Architecture
FET continues to execute its
satellite communications strategy through collaborations
with international partners such as Elveo Mobile,
gradually expanding its portfolio of satellite
technologies and service capabilities.
Satellite broadband technologies
are expected to provide high-speed connectivity for
remote areas, specialized environments, and
mission-critical applications. D2D satellite services,
meanwhile, have the potential to enable standard mobile
devices to maintain basic communications in areas where
terrestrial mobile coverage is limited. Through
investments across multiple satellite technologies, FET
is steadily progressing toward a multi-layer
communications architecture that integrates terrestrial
mobile networks, satellite broadband, and D2D satellite
services, expanding both network coverage and service
reach.
As D2D technologies evolve and
strengthen, terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks
will move past complementarity toward fundamental
integration, which will unlock improved capabilities,
better economics and the seamless support of new and
innovative applications.
Expanding the Satellite
Ecosystem for a New Era of Always-On, Seamless
Connectivity
FET will continue strengthening its
overall satellite communications strategy and deepen
collaboration with global satellite ecosystem partners
across the industry value chain. By progressively
integrating network resources across land, air, and
space, FET aims to develop a more resilient, expansive,
and scalable converged network architecture.
Leveraging its existing mobile
network and digital service capabilities, FET will
continue exploring applications spanning consumer
services, enterprise solutions, public services, and
mission-critical communications. By extending
connectivity beyond traditional geographical boundaries,
FET aims to strengthen Taiwan's digital resilience and
help shape a more connected, future-ready digital
society.
