UNIVITY and TELKOMSAT to
Explore Future Satellite Connectivity Opportunities

UNIVITY and Telkom Satelit
Indonesia (Telkomsat), have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to explore potential areas of
cooperation and the use of satellite-based connectivity
solutions in Indonesia.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two
companies will assess potential use cases for satellite
connectivity, including Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO)
architecture, and future Direct-to-Device services.
Collaboration activities will center on leveraging the
complementary strengths of the two companies’
space-based networks to address evolving
telecommunication connectivity needs in the Indonesian
market, and will focus on a range of possible
applications, including enterprise connectivity,
mobility, and connectivity solutions for unserved and
underserved areas.
The MoU also reflects a shared
interest in sovereign satellite connectivity
capabilities for Indonesia through nationally hosted
ground infrastructure interfacing with future VLEO
constellations. Telkomsat and UNIVITY will further
evaluate hybrid multi-orbit architectures combining the
resilience of Telkomsat's geostationary satellites
network with UNIVITY design-to-cost VLEO systems to
deliver secure, resilient, and tailored solutions
addressing public sector priorities and national
security applications.
UNIVITY is developing a shared and
neutral space infrastructure designed to place telecom
operators at the center of the value chain. Through a
Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) constellation leveraging
telecom operators’ 5G spectrum, the company is working
toward high-speed, low-latency connectivity designed to
complement terrestrial networks.
As Indonesia’s leading satellite
operator and a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia Group, a
state-owned enterprise, Telkomsat serves
telecommunications operators, enterprises, government
agencies and communities across the archipelago, with a
focus on supporting connectivity in remote and
hard-to-reach regions.
