PSN and Korido Port Authority Partner to Boost Digital Connectivity in Indonesia’s Remote Maritime Regions

PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) has officially entered a strategic partnership with the Class III Port Authority Office (UPP) of Korido, under the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.

The agreement marks a major step forward in PSN’s mission to advance digital transformation across Indonesia’s Foremost, Outermost, Underdeveloped, and Border (3TP) regions.

A Milestone for Maritime Digitalization

The signing ceremony took place at the Sriwijaya Room, Ministry of Transportation Building, Jakarta, attended by PSN Director Heru Dwi Kartono, Head of the Class III Korido Port Authority Office Willem Thobias Fofid, and Director General of Sea Transportation Muhammad Masyhud.

This collaboration is the first of its kind within the Directorate General of Sea Transportation to leverage satellite technology for port digitalization in a 3TP area — setting a precedent for future maritime modernization initiatives.

Connecting the Unconnected

Through this partnership, PSN will deploy satellite-based connectivity solutions to enhance Korido Port’s operations — a vital logistics gateway and economic driver in the Pacific region.

“This collaboration is a strategic step in supporting digital transformation, particularly in the maritime sector,” said Heru Dwi Kartono, Director of PSN.

“Reliable communication access is fundamental to operational efficiency, navigational safety, and national data sovereignty.”

Heru emphasized PSN’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable technology, ensuring that even the most remote regions benefit from reliable connectivity.

Empowering Korido Port

Korido Port has long faced challenges with limited signal coverage, disrupting vessel reporting and administrative processes. PSN’s satellite infrastructure will now eliminate these barriers, enabling seamless communication and real-time data exchange.

“This cooperation is a concrete step toward synergized digitalization of port services and water transportation,” said Willem Thobias Fofid, Head of the Korido Port Authority Office.

“Satellite technology will deliver reliable digital connectivity, especially in areas beyond the reach of terrestrial networks.”

Willem also highlighted the importance of digital sovereignty, noting that vessel movement data and port activity records are strategic national assets that must be managed securely and independently.

Driving Efficiency and Transparency

Director General Muhammad Masyhud praised PSN’s role in pioneering this initiative, noting that integrating satellite technology into port operations will boost efficiency and enable real-time data transparency — from Indonesia’s Pacific border to national data centers.

With PSN’s solutions now active at Korido Port, the region is poised for stronger data security, enhanced oversight, and improved navigational safety — a major leap forward for Indonesia’s maritime digital transformation.
