Interstellar Breaks Ground on Tohoku Branch to Facilitate ZERO Mass Production

Interstellar Technologies Inc. dedicated to addressing global challenges through space transportation and utilization, has begun construction of its Tohoku Branch in Minamisoma, Fukushima Prefecture, as of November 2024. The new branch aims to support the development and eventual mass production of the orbital class launch vehicle ZERO, which is currently being prepared for its inaugural launch.

A Key Facility for Electrical and Mechanical Hardware Production and Testing  Interstellar has been active in the region since establishing its Fukushima Branch. The Hamadori area, including Minamisoma City, has long been a hub for manufacturing industries, including aerospace. In July 2021, Interstellar became the first space transportation hardware manufacturer to enter the region, setting up its branch in the Business Incubation Center located in Minamisoma City.

The Tohoku Branch will consolidate and enhance production functions for electrical and mechanical hardware, while introducing advanced testing capabilities, such as avionics integration testing. The facility will include warehouse and office space, accommodating up to 30 employees, with plans to recruit locally for some positions. Construction is set to be completed by November 2025, with operations commencing in December.

In addition to its headquarters in Taiki, Hokkaido, and the Tokyo Branch, Interstellar opened a new branch in Obihiro City, Hokkaido, in October 2024 to further strengthen its production framework.

The Tohoku Branch will build upon these efforts, advancing Interstellar’s mission to provide low-cost, frequent space transportation services and bringing the vision of 'a future where space is accessible to everyone' closer to reality.
