Young talent at MEASAT recognised by the Asia Pacific Satellite Communications Council

The APSCC Young Talent Award honours outstanding young individuals working in the satellite and space industries in the Asia Pacific

21 October 2022

MEASAT Global Berhad (“MEASAT”) – Malaysia’s premier satellite operator was once again recognised by the Asia Pacific Satellite Communications Council (“APSCC”) for the quality of its young talent, when Abdul Halim Abd Aziz, Assistant Manager for Satellite and Launch Procurement at MEASAT received the 2022 APSCC Young Talent Award in Seoul, South Korea yesterday. Halim is the third person from MEASAT to receive the honour, following wins by other personnel in 2018 and 2019. The 2022 APSCC Awards, held in conjunction with the annual APSCC Satellite Conference and Exhibition, also saw Yau Chyong Lim, Chief Operating Officer of MEASAT receiving the 2022 Satellite Executive of the Year in the Asia Pacific award, in a separate presentation held earlier on 18 October 2022.

The APSCC Young Talent Award recognises outstanding individuals aged 35 and under working in the satellite and space industries in the Asia Pacific region. Created as an initiative to promote a healthy talent pipeline and talent retention, the award seeks to incentivise young leaders and encourage career development by highlighting inspiring achievements. Along with this award, Halim also received a full scholarship for the 2023 International Space University (ISU) Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program.

“I am very honoured by this recognition from the APSCC and the nomination from MEASAT’s leadership team. This acknowledgement of my work further inspires me to contribute to the company and satellite industry. In the past three years, serving as the Programme Manager for the MEASAT-3d Project was a life-changing experience and I am very glad to have had this opportunity despite my initial lack of experience. Seeing the benefits that MEASAT’s most advanced satellite is bringing Malaysia, such as enabling 100% satellite broadband coverage in the unserved and underserved areas throughout the country, motivates me to seek more opportunities to improve myself and make a mark in the industry,” said Halim.
