Thuraya Celebrates 15 Years Of
Pioneering Satcom Leadership In Asia-Pacific
1 June 2022
Thuraya has opened a new office in
Singapore to mark the 15th anniversary of the brand’s
entry into the Asia-Pacific market. Ever since its
acquisition by Yahsat in 2018, Thuraya has been steadily
growing its presence in the region. The unveiling of the
new office, which took place together with partners and
customers, serves as a testament to the growth and
success of the business over the past few years.
Thuraya’s new office was
inaugurated by H.E. Jamal Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the UAE’s
Ambassador to Singapore, in the presence of Mr. Herman
Loh, Vice-President and Head of Regional Partnerships at
Singapore Economic Development Board and key APAC
partners.
Welcoming dignitaries and partners,
Thuraya’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sulaiman Al Ali
spoke at the opening: “The UAE serves as a corridor
between the West and the East. Both Yahsat and Thuraya
are national champions driving the growth and
diversification of our nation’s space economy. We are
now globalizing our successes and the many years of
innovation in the satellite industry. Thuraya’s new
office in Singapore will be a meeting point of ideas and
cross-cultural exchange, spurring socio-economic
development across the Asia-Pacific belt. This is a key
market across all our business sectors, including
Maritime, Government, Energy, NGO and Enterprise.”
Thuraya’s products and services are
highly popular in the Asia-Pacific market, with its
latest maritime solution, the MSUA award-winning Thuraya
MarineStar, making sustainable fishing affordable in the
region. The brand’s 15th anniversary celebrations
included a traditional lion dance performance – in
deference to Singapore’s culture. This is said to bring
blessings of health, prosperity and happiness to all
present.
