THAICOM Reports Q3’2010 Results

THAICOM Public Company Limited announced its third quarter financial performance for the first nine months period of 2010 in which THAICOM’s total revenues from sale of goods and rendering of services were Baht 5.04 billion. These included revenues from its satellite business of Baht 3.4 billion, telephone businesses of Baht 1.14 billion and revenues from Internet and media of Baht 487 million.
Satellite Business
Revenues from the satellite business increased 2.7% compared to the same period of last year. This was contributed by the significant increase in revenues from the THAICOM 4 satellite bandwidth of 39.4% due to the continued expansion of services in Japan and India
as well as the continued growth in the utilization of THAICOM 4’s bandwidth in Australia, New Zealand, and the South East Asian countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. As of the end of the third quarter of 2010, the Company broadcasts 314 television channels on THAICOM platform, an increase from 292 channels in 2009.
Telephone Businesses
As of the end of the third quarter of 2010, total number of telephone subscribers in Cambodia
(Mfone Co., Ltd.) and Laos
(Lao Telecommunications Co., Ltd.) was 2.1 million subscribers, an increase of 5.2% over the same period of last year. The continued fierce competition among nine mobile operators in Cambodia
affected the growth of the company’s mobile businesses. However, Lao Telecom has still maintained its ranking as number one in terms of mobile market share in Laos.
Internet and Media Businesses
Revenues for the first nine months from the internet access and media businesses grew 38%. As of the end of the third quarter of 2010, total satellite dishes sold reached more than one million across the country via the DTV broadcasting platform.
THAICOM reported in its consolidated financial statements an earning before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of Baht 1.47 billion. During the first nine months period of this year, the Company recorded net loss of Baht 621 million. In addition, the Company’s Debt-to-Equity Ratio decreased from 0.58 at the end of 2009, to 0.57. The Company gained net cash inflow from operating activities of Baht 1.19 billion. As of September 30th, 2010, THAICOM reported a total of Baht 1.04 billion in cash and equivalent to cash.
