Quarter
Results:
Cash
flow
increases
due
to
advance
receipts
from Japan of Baht 326 million

THAICOM
Public
Company
Limited
announced
financial
results
for
the
first
quarter
of
2010
with
revenues
from
the
sale
of
services
of
Baht
1.78
billion
baht.
Revenues
on
satellite
services
and
the
related
business
increased
10.8%
and
the
Internet
access
and
media
services
grew
55.8%
compared
to
the
same
period
last
year.
Revenues
from
services
of
THAICOM
1A,
2,
5,
satellites
and
related
services
were
Baht
637
million
baht,
an
increase
of
8.3%
from
Baht
588
million
in
the
first
quarter
of
2009.
This
was
due
mainly
to
the
increase
in
transponder
leasing
services
from
the
satellite
television
broadcasting
business.
While
revenues
of
THAICOM
4
satellite
services
were
reported
as
Baht
561
million,
an
increase
of
13.8%
over
the
same
period
last
year.
Revenues
from
bandwidth
services
increased
28.5%
in
accordance
with
the
company
strategy,
which
aims
at
increasing
the
bandwidth
utilization
by
opening
access
of
other
systems
and
equipment
manufacturers
to
work
with
the
IPSTAR
system.
At
the
end
of
the
first
quarter
of
2010,
the
Company
had
total
of
1,994,634
subscribers
in
the
telephone
system
in
Laos
(Lao
Telecommunications
Co.,
Ltd.)
and Cambodia (MFone Co., Ltd.), an increase
of
1.8%
from
the
first
quarter
of
2009.
Revenues
from
the
telephone
business
were
Baht
452
million,
a
decrease
of
23.5%
due
to
stiff
competition
in
the
Cambodian
market.
However,
when
compared
to
the
same
period
last
year,
MFone
had
a
27%
year-on-year
increase
in
revenue-per-minute.
While
Lao
Telecommunications
showed
continued
growth
in
the
number
of
subscribers.
Revenues
of
Internet
access
and
media
services
were
Baht
134
million.
Total
sales
of
DTV
sets
were
approximately
661,718,
an
increase
of
278,052
sets
compared
to
the
first
quarter
of
2009.
According
to
the
consolidated
financial
statements,
the
Company
recorded
net
loss
of
Baht
157
million,
a
decrease
of
Baht
63
million
from
the
Baht
220
million
net
loss
in
the
first
quarter
of
2009.
This
was
due
to
losses
on
foreign
exchange,
finance
costs
reduction
and
increase
in
share
of
profits
of
associate.
The
Company
reported
its
Debt-to-Equity
Ratio
of
0.57
times
and
the
net
cash
flow
from
operating
activities
of
Baht
1.09
billion,
an
increase
of
Baht
237
million
or
27.7%
from
the
same
period
last
year.
The
main
reason
was
because
the
Company
received
advance
receipts
for
the
IPSTAR
service
from
the Japanese
customer
in
the
amount
of approximately
Baht
326
million.
The
Company’s
ending
cash
as
of
March
31,
2010
was
Baht
1.66
billion.
