Industry-leading Companies Join APSCC as Members

The Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council announced the joining of three industry-leading companies, MELCO, PT Indosat, and ITSO as its newest members. In April 2010, PT Indosat and International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) have joined the Organization as a Gold Member and Affiliate Member respectively. Also in March 2010, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO) upgraded its membership status from APSCC Regular to Gold. MELCO has been a supportive member of APSCC since 1997.
With the sign-up of the three companies to APSCC’s growing network, now the APSCC membership volume extends to over 110 members from the global satellite and space industries.
MELCO designs, develops and manufactures a wide range of spacecrafts, from EO, navigational, meteorological and communications purposes. MELCO now has more than half of the home market spacecraft prime contracts and total of 18 backlogs, including 4 commercial spacecrafts, utilizing standardized platform, DS2000. DS2000, backed by long and rich heritage of BUS equipment supplied to international market since 1980s, can deliver up to 13kW of power and weight of 5.5 tons. The platform is capable of accommodating various payload missions. MELCO has a state-of-the-art spacecraft AIT facility in Kamakura Works, just south of Tokyo metropolitan area.
PT Indosat was established in 1967 and now has becoming the most comprehensive telecommunication company in terms of infrastructure, products, and services in Indonesia. With more than 40 years of experience and dedication, Indosat has become a reliable telecommunication company. Indosat Infrastructure includes the new PALAPA-D Satellite is located at 113 degrees East orbital slot, replacing PALAPA-C2. However PALAPA-C2 will be moved and operated to 150.5 degrees East (above Papua area). At the new location PALAPA-C2 only operates 24 C-band transponders that cover Asean Beam and Asia Plus Beam.
ITSO is an intergovernmental organization with the mission to ensure that Intelsat Ltd. provides public telecommunications services on a global and non-discriminatory basis; ensure the performance of Core Principles for the provision of international public telecommunications services, with high reliability and quality; and promote international telecommunications services to meet the needs of the information and communication society. Headquartered in Washington D.C., ITSO has 150 member countries.
