TelkomGroup Acquisition of Malaysian Satellite Company

PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telkom), through its subsidiary PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), agreed on a majority purchase of TS Global Network Sdn Bhd (TSGN), Malaysia's dominant provider of satellite communications services. The transfer of majority ownership of TSGN to Telin was marked by the signing of a conditional sale and purchase agreement executed by the President Director of Telin Faizal R. Djoemadi, CEO of TSGN Kent Ho, and TSGN shareholders, witnessed by Telkom's Wholesale & International Service Director Abdus Somad Arief and Chairman ofd TSGN Datuk Hod Parman, in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, Friday (24/11).

TSGN is the largest VSAT service provider in Malaysia with corporate customers from various industries such as plantation, mining, government and banking, as well as TSGN having affiliated companies in Brunei and Myanmar.

President Director Telin Faizal R. Djoemadi said, in a satellite business that knows no national borders, Telin needs an experienced and existing partner in the regional market. Therefore, with TSGN the opportunity to expand the communications satellite market will be wide open, both in Malaysia and other regional regions. "The acquisition of TSGN is also in line with Telin's vision to become a Global Digital Hub. This corporate action is also expected to provide added value for Telin in terms of access to regional markets, especially Malaysia, Brunei and Myanmar, "Faizal said after signing.

On the same occasion, Telkom Director of Wholesale & International Service, Abdus Somad Arief, affirmed that synergy with TSGN is a strategic step for the development of satellite market in Asia Pacific region. "This synergy will further open opportunities for TelkomGroup to realize the goal of becoming a major player in the satellite business, in line with the company's strategic objectives to become the top 3 satellite service providers in Asia," said Abdus Somad Arief.
