Comtech Awarded $3.3 Million Equipment
Order to Support an Asian Mobile Network Operator’s 2G+4G
Backhaul Network Expansion
November 17, 2016
Comtech announced that during its first quarter of fiscal 2017, its
Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp received a $3.3
million equipment order to provide backhaul network expansion for one of
the largest Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in Asia.
This initial order represents approximately one third of the total
planned network expansion project by the MNO. The order encompasses a
range of ground equipment from Comtech EF Data and its subsidiary
Memotec
Richard Swardh, Senior Vice President, MNO of Comtech EF Data
commented on the project, “The MNO has stringent requirements, including
the need to realize the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for its
satellite bandwidth and the desire to achieve the highest Quality of
Experience (QoE) for its 2G voice traffic and high-speed data services
including HD video conference applications in its 4G/LTE network. These
constraints necessitated the integration of several state-of-the-art
solutions from Comtech, including the award-winning DoubleTalk®
Carrier-in-Carrier®, the latest Forward Error Correction,
VersaFEC®-2, the fastest packet per second (PPS) satellite
modem IP Processor, and Memotec’s WX solution, which opens up LTE’s S1-U
interface GTP tunnel and directly optimizes the subscriber’s Internet
traffic, all under the dynamic SCPC (dSCPC) bandwidth management system.
We are delighted that our solution suite delivers exactly what the MNO
needs in its network requirement.”
"We are honored to continue to support this project, which brings
increased efficiency and performance to the mobile network," said Fred
Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech
Telecommunications Corp. "We are pleased to provide our customers and
their end users with the most cost-effective solutions."
