2016
SKY Perfect JSAT
Corporation
announces its
decision to
procure a ground
station for Low
Earth Orbit (“
LEO”) satellites
in order to
launch new
ground station
services for LEO
satellite
operators by Q2
2017. The first
ground station
will be set up
at SKY Perfect
JSAT’s Ibaraki
Network Control
Center.
SKY Perfect JSAT
has been
providing
geostationary
satellite
telecommunication
services through
more than 20
satellites since
1989, and has
accumulated
sophisticated
operational
experience and
know-how in the
satellite
business. Now
SKY Perfect JSAT
is also
venturing into
the burgeoning,
innovative LEO
market with its
expertise.
Driven by new
space
technology, the
LEO satellite
market in the
Asia-Pacific
region is
expected to
follow the
emerging trend
in Europe and
North America
and grow
rapidly. Ground
station service
in the
Asia-Pacific
region will
become an
indispensable
element for
global LEO
satellite
services.
Although there
are several
ground station
service
providers for
LEO satellites
in Europe and
North America,
their networks
have not yet
been
sufficiently
deployed to the
Asia-Pacific
region to meet
the growing
demands from new
LEO operators.
SKY Perfect JSAT
is now
conducting
in-depth
discussion with
such service
providers for
business
collaborations.
SKY Perfect JSAT
looks forward to
expanding its
business into
the new LEO
market in the
Asia-Pacific
region,
leveraging its
geostationary
satellite
fleet—the
largest in
Asia—and its
extensive
operational
experience.
