GS Group launched the first DTH service in Bangladesh
GS Group international investment and industry holding company launched RealVU – the first DTH operator in Bangladesh. The project is implemented in partnership with the Bengali multi-sector conglomerate, BEXIMCO. GS Group acts as a supplier and integrator of its in-house hardware and software solutions for the operator’s functioning in accordance with the modern standards of digital television.
The first satellite Pay-TV operator in Bangladesh is a joint project from the GS Group holding company and BEXIMCO conglomerate. The first national-level DTH platform RealVU will provide high-quality digital broadcasting across the country’s 165 million population. Previously, viewers only had access to services of Bengali analog terrestrial and cable TV, as well as the ability to illegally hook up to Indian DTH operators.
The solutions by GS Group represent the technological basis of the RealVU TV operator. The holding company has delivered and integrated its in-house software and hardware systems that will enable the first satellite platform in Bangladesh to operate in accordance with modern standards of digital television service. Thanks to Russian high-tech solutions, a powerful satellite signal is available anywhere in the country and practically does not depend on perfect weather conditions.
Currently, DTH platform RealVU offers more than 100 TV channels in SD and HD quality. Packages available to viewers include well-known international channels in English, popular Indian channels and channels with local Bangladeshi content. For today, an extensive sales and service dealer network has been created throughout the country. The digital TV set-top boxes developed by GS Group correspond to the needs of modern viewers. In particular, users will enjoy such functions as PVR (personal video recording) and TimeShift along with an EPG (electronic program guide).
“The GS Group’s international broadcast projects are a bright example of Russian high technologies successfully entering the global market. RealVU, the first DTH operator in Bangladesh will bring mass accessibility to high-quality digital television service in a country that has 165 million plus population currently being forced to watch low-rated terrestrial and cable TV or to illegally connect to foreign operators. We expect to engage significant audience in the first year of operating due to GS Group’s vast expertise in managing national broadcast projects, solid cooperation with a local partner, diversified content that meets viewers demands, and a high level of service” – Sergey Dolgopolsky, PR, GR and IR director, Foreign Broadcasting Projects Department, GS Group.
RealVU is the second international broadcast project that was launched with direct involvement of GS Group. From 2012 to 2016, the holding company successfully implemented the project of creating One TV, Cambodia’s first national-level DTT operator. GS Group intends to focus on launching digital broadcast projects in other promising markets.
