Thuraya Partners with Seven Seas to Increase Technical Support in Asia Pacific in line with Growth in Maritime Sector

 11 April, 2016

Thuraya Telecommunications Company, has announced an agreement with Singapore-based Seven Seas Electronic to offer technical support to Thuraya’s service partners in Asia Pacific.

The new service agreement aims to speed up response times for service partners needing vital maintenance work. The end result will ensure faster response times for service partners and end customers.

The agreement comes after Thuraya’s recent expansion of its maritime portfolio with the launch of Atlas IP. Atlas IP is an easy to install terminal which offers managers and crew seamless access to the internet, enhanced connectivity, and high-speed onboard efficiency with best-in-class data rates.

Randy C. Roberts, Chief Innovation Officer, Thuraya, said: “This agreement with Seven Seas Electronic aims to increase our technical and engineering support to our valued service partners in Asia Pacific. Our expanding maritime portfolio requires support whenever and wherever a vessel needs it.  Our maintenance partner will store spare equipment for vessels in locations that are difficult for our partners to reach. In the long-run, this new agreement will save companies time and money as support will come from within the region.”

At agreed rates, Thuraya’s service partners are set to benefit from having around-the-clock access to Seven Seas’ fully-trained engineers - helping to avoid extensive downtime in the event of equipment problems onboard vessels.

Thuraya’s maritime business continues to experience substantial growth, particularly in Asia.  This convenient maintenance service contract comes into effect following an increase in regional customers signing up with the leading Mobile Satellite Services operator.

Amos Koh, Manager, Seven Seas Electronic, said: “We are pleased to partner with Thuraya Telecommunications to provide urgent assistance to its service partners around Asia Pacific. Our engineers are fully trained in Thuraya maritime equipment and we look forward to providing this important service to customers in Singapore and beyond.”
