SpeedCast Selected by ConocoPhillips to deliver enhanced connectivity for Bayu-Undan Operations

26 March 2015

SpeedCast International Limited has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract for delivery of satellite communications services by ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest independent exploration and production company.  With this latest contract, SpeedCast will significantly increase the primary satellite communications services to the ConocoPhillips operated asset located in the Bayu-Undan field in the Timor Sea between Darwin and Timor-Leste.

The SpeedCast service will provide high speed connectivity between ConocoPhillip’s offshore production facilities in the Bayu-Undan field in the Timor Sea and their regional headquarters in Perth, Australia.  With this latest contract, the size of the link will increase to 60Mbps in both directions, representing one of the largest point-to-point links for commercial purposes in the Australian region. The high-performance IP connectivity will be used for operational and social communications, including data and voice, as well as crew welfare applications.

“We are very pleased to be expanding our services with ConocoPhillips for their Bayu-Undan operations,” said Pierre-Jean Beylier, CEO of SpeedCast.  “We would like to thank ConocoPhillips for their continued trust over the past 10 years.”

“We feel that our leadership position in the Australian market is a testament to SpeedCast's ability to deliver reliable services to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers in the energy sector,” Mr. Beylier added.

SpeedCast has been providing satellite communications services to ConocoPhillips for over 10 years, for a variety of different applications, including offshore vessels and platforms, using a wide range of satellite technologies to meet ConocoPhillips’ evolving requirements.

This announcement follows SpeedCast’s announced acquisitions of Hermes Datacomms in March and Geolink Satellite Services in February, which will further enhance SpeedCast’s products and services tailored for the energy and maritime sectors.
