Comtech Awarded $5.0 Million of Orders for Network Expansion Project in Asia

February 23, 2015

Comtech EF Data Corp., was awarded orders totaling $5.0 million for SATCOM equipment and services to expand a communication network in Asia, $3.9 million of which was received during its second quarter and $1.1 million was received during its first quarter. Comtech EF Data’s equipment was chosen as being the most efficient for the application after the customer conducted a thorough competitive analysis and various technology demonstrations.

The customer will use Comtech EF Data’s CDM-570A/L-IP Satellite Modems and CDD-564A IP Demodulators to allocate dynamically bandwidth and optimize data traffic as required among many different sites. The CDM-570A/L-IP is the latest upgrade to the industry leading CDM-570 series and includes support for Comtech’s low latency LDPC Forward Error Correction, the revolutionary  bandwidth compression, and optimized transmit filter rolloffs down to 5%, providing significant bandwidth-power savings. The modem also features intelligent header compression and a lossless payload compression engine to ensure that only essential information is transmitted across the satellite link. By leveraging the horsepower, efficiency and intelligence of Comtech’s complete modem and multiplexer solution, the customer is positioned to easily add remote sites and allocate bandwidth resources when and where needed.

Dr. Stanton Sloane, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. commented on these orders, “This customer opted for our solution suite given its proven performance and dynamic capabilities, which will enable efficient allocation of satellite resources within its cost structure.”
